Responding to Challenging Situations Related to the Use of Psychostimulants: A Practical Guide

This guide was developed for AOD frontline workers responding to challenging situations related to the use of psychostimulants.

Summary: This guide was developed for frontline workers working in alcohol and other drug settings, particularly those without a clinical or professional background. This resource can be used as a basis for modifying or reviewing existing practices for responding to challenging situations related to the use of including crystal methamphetamine ('ice'). Strategies for minimising the likelihood of challenging situations arising, responding when these situations do occur, and reviewing the management of those situations are provided.

Developers: This resource was developed by Nicole Lee and Linda Jenner in consultation with Kieran Connelly, Jacqui Cameron and Anthony Denham (Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre), and Janet Salisbury, Eve Merton and Ruth Pitt (Biotext). Development was funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.
